I am extra pleased with the 299 page Civil War Pension File on Gerhard Heinrich Plogsterdt! Fabulous! Since his widow, Louisa Wilhelmine nee Kassebaum, filed a Widow’s Pension on him, her 2nd husband (915.187), AND on her 1st husband, Heinrich Wilhelm Wiesehan (526.056), it was all in one file as well as Plogsterdt’s self-filed pension

I would highly recommend Gopher Records. I requested medical and service records for my great-great grandfather and his brother who served for the Union Army. Some records are a stab in the dark. I still don’t know if this is the right guy but I got the records very quickly, allowing me time to evaluate before deciding on the next move.
This record is for the second of several brothers who served in the Civil War–a grand-uncle to me. Again, so many nuggets in the narrative. I’m writing a book about this family and it was great to get this entire file, reproduced cleanly so everything was legible, so quickly.
