Looking for records to apply for War of 1812.
I wrote the NARA personally. I filled out their paperwork and waited 3 months for a reply which was "there is nothing available on this individual". I was certain that my 3rd great grandfather had fought in the War of 1812. Family stories were very strong on his behalf but I had no documentation to prove. I paid for a subscription to Fold 3, watched all the tutorials and could only find his name with no link to prove that this was the correct man. For less money than a year's subscription to Fold [...]

Great information
I received all information I requested promptly and they communicated with me letting me know when to expect to receive it. The best part is, some of the information was already available online so they send me a link to access it and did not charge the full amount. Great people to work with and very honest.

follow the yellow brick road
To discover original documentation of my great-grandparents homestead felt like I found a pot of gold. I hadn't known these additional records existed despite years of family research. I've even written a book about being a descendant of immigrants who homesteaded of reservation lands coming out this June (The Land of Everlasting Sky: Loss and Legacy on Lake of the Woods, She Writes Press, distributed by Simon and Schuster). The research never ends! It was easy to submit my request and the turnaround time was less than expected. Top notch professionalism and customer service provided by Bob Velke of [...]

Pension File for John Hiram Stratton
I asked for the complete file and received it right on the date promised. The company was highly recommended to me and that was a great recommendation!

US Army Muster Rolls 1870s
Bob and Gopher Records have been great to work with. Bob went beyond the call of duty to provide the best possible copies. I feel fortunate to have found this resource and plan to use Gopher Records for future projects. Highly recommend for research, in my case involving the Indian Wars.

Spanish American War veteran
I was able to find out information about a distant relative who served in the U. S. Army during the Spanish American War. Gopher Records did an excellent job and was very helpful throughout the entire process. I highly recommend them for anyone seeking to find records and information concerning ancestors or any other person from the past who might have records in the National Archive or elsewhere. Their prices are very reasonable for the amount of research they do.

The Best
Gopher Records quickly became my go-to source for Civil War records. Their communication is just excellent. They are meticulous about their research, with a personalized approach if they are having trouble finding what you requested. Records arrive in a timely manner. Payment is easy and quick.

Ancestor’s relative mystery explained
I was trying to understand why the nephew of my G-G-G-G grandmother claimed to be a veteran of the Kentucky 22nd Volunteer Infantry (Company D), when he was not listed in the muster list available various places. Clues were there, but not a definitive answer. The pension file that I sourced through Gopher Records answered the question. He had signed on as a Lieutenant in the Company, but had resigned when his house was destroyed by Morgan's forces, and he had to go home to deal with it. This occurred before the company was mustered [...]

Excellent Service – Excellent Value
Found out about this service from fellow Facebook poster. I've done it both ways - NARA and Gopher Records. Either one does the job, but NARA is much slower, and much more expensive. For about the cost of a NARA pension file, Gopher will provide a "bundle", that includes the Pension, Service and Medical Card records (where available for your ancestor) - scanned and downloaded, rather than through the mail. Highly recommended!
