Four brothers serving in CW

Thank you very much for this vital information. These men spelled their names four different ways and had to jump through a few hoops to verify their individual service. Because of this I have found the names of two siblings that I previously did not know and birthdates. Regrettably these siblings did not appear in the 1850/1860 census. Additionally I have the death date of their father as it appeared in their mothers pension request.

Why have I never heard of Gopher Records?

Although I've done a lot of genealogy for women interested in joining the Daughters of the American Revolution, questions about a Civil War lineage weren't addressed in the usual on-line sources - and my experience with the National Archives is that they take a long time. So, when another application taskforce member suggested Gopher Records, I said "why not?" Based on this experience, I am adding Gopher Records to my list of "go to" sources. They were prompt - and I mean within 48 hours prompt - and reasonably priced. This is a great resource that I'd never heard of [...]

Amazing Service

I have used Gopher Records several times. Their service is quick, well done and the price is right. I don't hesitate to order a pension record now at all.

Fast & Amazing Results

I had heard of Gopher Records on several genealogy Facebook groups, from people who had great experiences. I saw nothing but positive comments about them. So I decided to use them for my 2nd great-Grandfather records, who'd served in the US Civil War. I was stunned to receive over 200 pages of (digitized) records. Most of these records where hand written. I received his service, medical, and pension records. Seeing his widow's own handwriting was quite exciting. I felt like I could hear her speaking, and I've learned so much about his life and service. I will be using them [...]

Great job!

Faster than expected service, straight images, easy download-- What more could a person ask for? Thanks for your great service

Uncovering my great-grandfather’s Civil War history

I had been curious about my great-grandfather's background as a young man serving in the Civil War as no stories about that generation had ever been passed down to me. I appreciated the service of Gopher Records in retrieving 210 pages tied to his Civil War experiences, including his pension files. I'm learning more and more about him as I work my way through, and I find it exciting to see his actual signature as well as his wife's signature along with a daughter's signature as she served as a guardian to her mother. I learned about Gopher Records [...]

Civil War Records

I have used Gopher records twice now for Civil War records (pension, medical and service) and have been thrilled with how quickly the records arrived and how thorough the search was! I highly recommend using them. Great service, great price, great results!

Excellent & speedy service

I have ordered multiple Civil War records and Land Entry Case files through Gopher Records. One of the things I really appreciate is that they are very consultative and go above and beyond For one order they pointed me to where my ancestor's Civil War CSMR was on Fold3 (last name Smith and a very common first name no less) and did not charge me for it. They really go out of their way for their customers. They are also incredibly fast in retreiving the records and the scans are high quality. I can't [...]

Gopher Records is my Go-To!

Bob has been so helpful in my search for my Civil War Ancestors! His website is also a wealth of knowledge and helped me find even more! He even took the time to text me a photo from the NARA file so I had it in high resolution. I can't recommend Gopher Records enough and am so thankful to have found them. Thank you Bob!

Fantastic Service

Many thanks to Bob Velke and Gopher Records. In the very early 2000s, I ordered a copy of a GG grandfather's Civil War pension file from the National Archives. It contained 25 pages. The photocopies were poor quality and difficult to read. Fast forward to February 2025 when I placed an order for the digital files with Gopher. In less than 2 weeks, I received the ENTIRE file consisting of 316 pages of clearly legible text! From the file, I finally have a physical description of my GG grandfather, for whom I have no photos, and some interesting character assessments [...]
