We ordered a widow’s pension application for an ancestor’s service in the Cherokee War in Georgia. Some of the information from this file (beautiful color images by Gopher Records!) helped fill in gaps in these ancestors’ lives and is the only place some of that information can now be found, (e.g., marriage information from a burned county) and the maiden name of the soldier’s widow, which blew what we thought we knew about her right out the window.
