I am so appreciative of the service provided by Gopher Records. They respond in a timely manner – usually only a week or two even with very large orders like this one which had close to 1000 pages. And the records are clear and easy to read. The entire process of ordering and paying for and downloading the files is also very organized, easy, and efficient.
In the past I have traveled myself to the archives to search for and copy files and I have ordered directly from the archives. In doing it myself, I left wondering if I had located all the available files and worry I missed important information. For the times I ordered directly from the archives it took about 6 months to get the records. And from what I understand, for this particular order if processed through the archives in addition to taking forever to get, it would have been about 10 times more costly than what I paid through Gopher Records.
Because of those reasons, it is now just so much easier and cost effective to order the Civil War records I need through Gopher. The service is so great it makes me wish I had more Civil War veterans to research!
