GOPHER RECORDS

I wrote the NARA personally. I filled out their paperwork and waited 3 months for a reply which was “there is nothing available on this individual”. I was certain that my 3rd great grandfather had fought in the War of 1812. Family stories were very strong on his behalf but I had no documentation to prove. I paid for a subscription to Fold 3, watched all the tutorials and could only find his name with no link to prove that this was the correct man. For less money than a year’s subscription to Fold 3 which is NOT a user friendly web-site, your organization sent me 33 pages of information with names that totally prove it is the same individual who is my 3rd great grandfather. I have already given glowing reports to my family members who asked where I got the proof documents-“Honorable Discharge”, 160 acres of bounty land with accompanying letters that mention his children’s names. He was declared deceased while they were still minors and the family got a local justice of the peace to file for a pension on their behalf. I couldn’t be more pleased with the prompt service. (I received a response earlier than projected.) I got the paperwork today to file an application for membership in the Daughters of 1812. Thank-you so much for your excellent work,
