Better Soldiers and Sailors (BetterSoldiersAndSailors.com) is a free web site that offers a powerful way to search for your Civil War ancestors. It start with the same databases as the popular “Soldiers and Sailors” site offered by the National Park Service (NPS) but uses a much more powerful search engine, adds additional databases, and includes advice about how/where to get copies of the soldiers’ military records, among other powerful features.
