I attended a genealogy conference this year and asked where the best place to request Civil War pension files from, the National Archives or FOLD3? I received over 100 pages of information, and almost every page had either info I couldn't find elsewhere, or postive proof of things I already suspected. Gopher Records was wonderful. Great service. I was shocked how quickly my ancestor’s Civil War pension file was retrieved and sent! 82 pages full of history about my ancestor that was filing (the father of a soldier). Affidavits from friends and family, his own accounting of his life, and then the sad fact that he was ultimately denied.
