I was really impressed with the service I received from Gopher Records. I love that you can do a free records assessment and get an accurate quote of the price. I appreciate that they send the records electronically, so I don't need to scan a huge pile of paper. They were also much faster than going through the NARA. Very prompt and, as far as one can ever determine, thorough examination of the records requested. I received the files much sooner than I had anticipated, which gave me time to review them to determine the pertinent ancestry before a trip planned for further research. A tricky twist was the fact that the records appear under several different spellings, as was common among the Irish 150+ years ago. Value received for the money spent, so I can heartily recommend this service for records pertaining to the American Civil War at least.

Nine files I have requested and each time Gopher Records has produced surprising results. I am learning that the the past wars for this country affected not just a single soldier it affected entire families. I have been requesting not just my direct line soldiers but also the brothers, uncles, and all who served in each family. This company produces quality work with continued followup on each request until the request is completed. I'll be sending more requests for all the wars they can research.
