We ordered a widow's pension application for an ancestor's service in the Cherokee War in Georgia. Some of the information from this file (beautiful color images by Gopher Records!) helped fill in gaps in these ancestors' lives and is the only place some of that information can now be found, (e.g., marriage information from a burned county) and the maiden name of the soldier's widow, which blew what we thought we knew about her right out the window.

The staff of Gopher always do a fine job. I've had them look up several of my CW ancestors and their searches never fail. They are definitely worth every $ I've spent and look forward to working with them again.

I searched for Civil War records on the normal sites including Fold3 and was only able to come up with a couple documents. Gopher Records was able to come up with complete and comprehensive documents!! I emailed a request on the weekend and received an email saying they received it with an estimated of time of completion. Beyond my expectations. What’s nice is you only get charged for what they actually can find. I cannot recommend them highly enough for helping you with your military record searches.

Bob at Gopher Records was incredibly helpful. I requested the records of a Civil War soldier and he filled the order promptly. He kept me informed about part of the request that could not be fulfilled because of mold on the documents. Gopher Records does an excellent job at scanning the records and their prices are fair. I've done research in the National Archives and if you are looking to get records, it's much easier to use Gopher Records than to travel to DC.

If I could I'd give this company a 10 star rating! Several years ago I ordered NARA records from another company claiming to be fast and inexpensive. I didn't get all of the documents I originally ordered AND it took them MONTHS and a great many emails, phone calls, etc to even get the records. About 40 years ago I ordered and received the Civil War records and pension files for my Great Grandfather. I am so happy to have heard about Gopher Records' services. Two years ago I had tried to obtain a complete Civil War pension file on someone through National Archives and never heard back, never saw my credit card run, could not track my request on NARA's website, nor did NARA respond to emails.
