Gerhard Heinrich Plogsterdt Civil War Pension File
I am extra pleased with the 299 page Civil War Pension File on Gerhard Heinrich Plogsterdt! Fabulous! Since his widow, Louisa Wilhelmine nee Kassebaum, filed a Widow’s Pension on him, her 2nd husband (915.187), AND on her 1st husband, Heinrich Wilhelm Wiesehan (526.056), it was all in one file as well as Plogsterdt’s self-filed pension (904.779 and certificate 896.203) and was a wealth of genealogical information! This has answered many questions that I had and most significantly it helped me break through a brick wall with documentation for my 2nd Great Grandfather’s Mother: Anna Maria Becker [...]

Good communication, faster and cheaper than through NARA
Gopher records got me correct record I needed, and at a lower price and a quicker turnaround than going through the government agency. Will use again next time I need a pension record!

War of 1812 bounty land
So glad to have found this resource. Bob and his team are swift, knowledgeable and so reasonable. I waited 9 months for records from NARA, but Gopher replied right away and only charges if/when the records are located - so easy to work with. I’ll be back for more orders 🙂

Landon Smith
Landon Smith’s USCT pension file revealed the name of his enslaver, Harriet Parker, and the name of his wife Maria’s enslaver, Susan Chandler, plus the names of Landon and Maria’s children and their dates of birth. Speedy service and a flawless delivery.

Roderick McCoy
Roderick McCoy was KIA during the Civil War. His pension obtained first by his mother Agnes (Douglas) McCoy, then by his father Rhodam McCoy after Agnes's death.
Gopher Records helped my client reclaim a history of these Free People of Color.

Gopher Records Continues to Shine
I have use Gopher Records multiple times with great success each time. The service is thorough, prompt, reasonable, and friendly. I have been able to use the information found in Civil War pension files to fill in gaps in my family's genealogy tree. Obtaining letters, copies of depositions, testimonials, etc. in your ancestor's own handwriting or signed by your ancestor is fascinating. I also help visitors to the Gettysburg National National Military Park research their Civil War ancestors or ancestors that served in other wars and conflicts. I ALWAYS recommend Gopher Records as a fantastic resource.
