What a wonderful service. I ordered 5 pension files this time, received them promptly before expected. While some were small and rejections that had little additional information. There were 2 that answered questions I've been searching a long time. With a name like John Hill that just disappeared during the Civil War, his father, Elijah explained the where and when John died in his application. Gopher Records was able to copy the military and pension records I wanted and email them to me in one week. In the past, ordering directly from NARA, I had gone through a cumbersome request and payment process and waited over 6 months for a different set of service and pension records.
