I'd heard of Gopher Records and was interested in trying it out. So I submitted a request for my great-great grandfather's Civil War records just to give the service a test. I already had a fair amount of information and just wanted to see what they might come up with. They came back with a treasure trove of previously unknown information about not only him but his through wife and family through the pension records. The process is quick and easy. Loved it and will definitely be using it again.

Great copies of the records. Better than the National Archives.

I was very very impressed when it was emphasized on what NOT to buy because I can get it for free. Or being warned that the one I ordered may not be mine. I've already posted on several sites how much I love them! I've used the 3x One of those times I decided to wait because we were unsure if we had the right person. If you use one site for military records use this one.

For my line with many men of the same name, Alfred Ridge is a son of Thomas Ridge, I thought an unmarried man's records could name siblings and parents. I’ve searched for years to find answers to my ancestral riddles. Gopher found all the answers in a week, all I had to provide is a pension file number. I had only the given name of Charles Gilman's wife and no marriage date or place. The photo of his headstone on Findagrave.com indicated he was a Civil War Veteran so I ordered his pension file.
