In less than one week I received remarkably clear digital images of four Civil War pensions. One pension alone comprised 106 images and every page was perfect! One document within the 106-page pension provided the key to my research problem: a letter from the Chester County, Pennsylvania, Coroner stating the results of his inquiry, which documented the early death of pensioner's first wife. A file for this coroner's report was not included with exisiting Chester County Coroner's records, nor were deaths recorded in Chester County in 1873. This is the service we genealogists dream about!

I have now used Gopher a half-dozen times to retrieve pension files from NARA and they continue to amaze and delight me in both the speed they deliver the files and the low prices they charge for their work. I recommend them completely.

Absolutely the best records request experience I have ever had. I took advantage of the free assessment option so that I could make an educated decision about which records I really wanted, and that assessment came quickly and was thorough enough (much more information than I expected) for me to make a sensible decision. Deciding to order the Civil War Pension File, I went on the Natl Archives website to do so. I ran into difficulties filling out their form. With that difficulty, I went on Facebook Group Random Act of Genealogical Kindness and asked others if they had similar problems. Several suggested using Gopher Records to have them do the research. I did and I'm very pleased. I got the files in about 2 weeks (far faster than they estimated on Natl Archives website) and at $45 (far cheaper than Natl Archives website)!!! I am pleased!!!

Very quick response to the request for my 2x gr grandfather's Civil War records. Their customer service sent lots of information concerning my request and the retrieval of the documents sent. They sent me over 50 pages of documents from the original signing up for service to his death many years later. I will definitely be submitting more requests for information about family members.
