I am SO happy I have found this service through the recommendation of David Lambert on Twitter. I had to cancel my trip to Washington, DC last month. I received the documents I asked for within a few days. The quality of the scanned documents, the fast service, and the price are a 5-star for me.

Gopher Records provides excellent service at a reasonable rate. They are good communicators, and they provide excellent scans of the documents you order. I would absolutely order from them again.

I've placed about five orders now, and I continue to be impressed by the affordability, quickness, and customer service of Gopher. On my most recent order, it turned out there were two soldiers with the exact same name I was looking for. Bob contacted me, helped me sort out the two men, and delivered the correct records. If you can't make it to NARA yourself, Gopher is the way to go!

I wish I could say that I found the answers I was looking for when I received my order, but they just weren't there. However, I am confident that I received everything there was to find for my 2X great grandfather who served in the Civil War. I submitted my order just before Christmas and I didn't expect any response for weeks. But I received back my scanned file shortly after New Years. Despite the age of these documents the scans were clear and very readable. I am very happy with the result.

You really can't beat the service - a complete set of Civil War records in 10 days for less than it would cost me to go to NARA and do it myself (and with far less hassle). I will use Gopher Records wherever possible.

I ordered a complete service record set for a survivor of Andersonville Prison and it arrived in half the time quoted AND with a reduction in fee due to NARA pulling the medical cards for digitization. A big surprise was a photo pasted to one of the applications and the file included a photo only image. All images clear and easy to read provide through a Dropbox link. I was absolutely thrilled with the service from Gopher Records. The records I needed were easy to order and were available to me within a week! I have ordered directly through the National Archives before and I definitely will not be going that route ever again (four month wait times, poor customer service, and ridiculously high prices considering staff is already on site).
