In less than 2 weeks, Gopher Records obtained and delivered invaluable 19th-century records that I had repeatedly but unsuccessfully tried to obtain on my own. Even though the information I provided about my ancestor's pension claims was incomplete, Gopher Records was still able to get their hands on these elusive documents. These records are life changing for my family, allowing us to break through a stubborn brick wall. Ordering was easy. Delivery was prompt. The service and the product are priceless!

Incredibly fast turnaround, less expensive than going directly to NARA, personalized (friendly, courteous and amazing) service. I should have been using Gopher long ago. To my good fortune, I stumbled on the Gopher Records website by happenstance. This site provides a concise and useful description of records that are available from the National Archives. I was not even aware that many of these records are actually available. More importantly, Gopher provides a relatively inexpensive record retrieval service that is supplemental and complimentary to the services provided by the National Archives. My cousin and I decided to use Gopher Records to help us get the pension and service records for our 2X great-grandfather from the Civil War. The records were somewhat complicated as our grandfather served in three different units in the Union Army using three alias. In just over a week we had all of the records from all three units and all three names including the pension file. Deciding to order the Civil War Pension File, I went on the Natl Archives website to do so. I ran into difficulties filling out their form. With that difficulty, I went on Facebook Group Random Act of Genealogical Kindness and asked others if they had similar problems. Several suggested using Gopher Records to have them do the research. I did and I'm very pleased. I got the files in about 2 weeks (far faster than they estimated on Natl Archives website) and at $45 (far cheaper than Natl Archives website)!!! I am pleased!!!

Easy to navigate site with alot of information. Placed my order and received downloadable documents in about 2 weeks. I won't even guess how long it would've taken with NARA, but definitely a much longer time. Also gopher is much easier to order and affordable if ordering multiple records.
