I learned about Gopher from a genealogy group on Facebook so I immediately went to the site and did the Free Assessment first to see if my 2nd great-grandfather had any records at the National Archives. Once I was told that he did, I paid for them, and in a matter of days, I had PDF files to download. One of them, was his pension record and his wife's request for his pension once he passed. And, in it, I was finally able to obtain their marriage date, which I had not been able to locate after five years [...]

I had requested the retrieval of my second great grandfather's Civil War records. Within hours of submitting my request, he had responded telling me what was available and the cost. The images were nice and clear, and the price very reasonable considering the comparative wait time and price for NARA services. I had only the given name of Charles Gilman's wife and no marriage date or place. The photo of his headstone on Findagrave.com indicated he was a Civil War Veteran so I ordered his pension file. The ordering process was clear and easy and I received the PDF files SO much faster than if I had ordered them directly from NARA.
